Aqueon Sump

Hello everyone, Wanted to get some input on the Aqueon Sump.
I have a 170 Gallon freshwater tank. Looking into making my set up a little more professional. What are the benefits of using a sump over a FX5 filter. What would i need to complete the system with the sump ?
