I got some awesome petrified wood, but there is a chance that some spider spray was sprayed in the vicinity 6-8 months ago. How would I best wash these and make them safe for my aquarium and shrimp? I have been soaking them in hot water, and changing the hot water often. The rockswhere out in the weather and have been in the rain and sun to wash away/break down any possible chemical exposure.

I'm thinking of putting them in a bowl wih a little Java moss and putting a single cherry shrimp in with it to see how it does. How long would I have to have the shrimp survive to be reasonably sure that they are safe to go in my main aquarium.

You could try just a boiling water soak, I'm pretty sure petrified wood raises ph btw. You may want to check that.

this rock doesn't fizz with acid, and my water is already really hard and has a high ph.
