Hi, I am currently cycling my tank and I am not using any bottled bacteria to try and speed the process up ( adding an ammonia source nothing else) but was wondering do they need to be added after the tank has fully cycled when carrying out routine tank maintenance such as after water changes or when cleaning a canister filter and the media? I am thinking they don't so long as the cleaning isn't too rigorous but would like to know what everyone else does.

Nope, just don't clean everything at once and only clean filter media in used tank water.

You can use live bacteria as a precaution but as soon as you see readings of 0 ammonia 0 nitrite and 5-40ppm nitrate for a few weeks you should be set
