I often see warnings that meds will kill off nitrifying bacteria but wondered if it is sudden or gradual.
So thought to share this one where I had a sick fish in cycled QT for treatment. Treatment over around 5 days has been triple sulpha and furan 2. Last night I found nitrite was still 0 but ammonia had started to lift (liquid based test kit). It wasn't quite 0.25 but definitely not 0.
So I assume the meds are knocking the nitrifying bacteria around (finally).
Wondered what others had seen on how meds impacted nitrifying bacteria populations?
