Bacteria Buildup?

I did a PWC this morning, and found these little dark balls, covered in fuzz, under the gravel. I found two, though there are probably many more. Help?

Little dark balls with fuzz on them is not much of a description without a picture, sorry to say.

But fwiw, bacteria do not form balls that you could see or pick up. Might be bits of root, bits of rock with detritus buildup perhaps. Not likely much to worry about.

But if you are worried, post a pic.

Okay, but ugh, I already disposed them. And I don't have live plants or rocks... It's all plastic.

Do they affect your water quality in any way? It's most likely uneaten food pellets and the fuzz is fungus.

Sounds right, but I feed flakes.
