Bamboo

I found a bunch of bamboo and was wondering what I need to do to be able to put it in my aquarium.

Thanks, Beacious.

If they are "lucky" bamboo the pole top must be at least 2 inches out of the water to prevent rot. And they need an "escape hatch" probably one of the filter knock outs.
Really nothing else... some of mine have grown a foot since becoming aquarium cleaners... unlike the slow year of growth when they were in vases.

Keep in mind that all bamboos lay silicates down, so you have to "dust" weekly to keep diatoms at bay. regular bamboos lays silcates down at a much faster rate which wil require a careful monitoring.

Mega-pet stores prolly should not be allowed to sell animals as retail "items".

The Bamboo is dead and I need to know if I need to treat it (I know I have to waterlog it) or something like that.

there are bamboo saplings that will do much better, I have one in my 10g planted right now. My understanding is that lucky bamboo's aren't very tall and wouldn't be able to be properly planted in anything short of a really short aquarium. I have snails in my tank and they haven't eaten it at all.

I looked into this myself.
Real animal skulls will be OK in dry environments like reptile enclosures, but they will slowly decompose in water. They will mess up the water chemistry.

You may be able to find aquarium-safe resin skulls online.

What if you sealed the skulls with a coat of silicone?
