Best Filtration 46g Bow Front

My Marineland 46g bow front has to filters on it both hang on the back

(1) older Whisper 30 Power Filter
(2) New Marineland Penguin Bio Wheel 200

Would it do better if I added a small canister as I've read where
carbon is ok to use for smells, med's but these two hang ons use
carbon in the cartage ?

please give me the best ideas and hopefully the best money wise also

You seem fine with that filtration. But if you want to be able to have more media, and different kind of media, than a canister would do the trick. I would suggest a fluval 406.

I recently bought a Marineland 360 canister as it will work with a 100g aquarium and mine is 46g it's really working great
