best suited fish for 30 gallon hex

I'm setting up a 30 gallon hex and want a cool and unusual fish to keep in there...any ideas??

Schooling fish would look good in there, like Danios. They're not uncommon though.

A hex or tall tank does not really give you a lot of options. Surface area/horizontal swimming room is way more important than volume in this case. If you're just looking for one fish it may not be a problem.

Dwarf puffers are to die for. A pair of dwarf cichlids would be neat too.

How many of those little 1.5 inch puffers could I put in a 30 hex? I was wondering could they be with any other fish? I was recently at petland/aquarium adventure...they had some amazing looking blue rams or something...Could I do a pair of those and a gourami or two?
