Betta is eating algae!

My betta is very intent on biting the suction cup on the filter and eating the algae off! It's just a minor film, not big clumps or anything. I had read somewhere before that a betta would eat spirulina flakes, but I didn't believe it! He did a pretty good job, too. I may not have to wipe that suction cup off next week! I guess this gives new meaning to the term "siamese algae eater"! LOL!
 
I haven't seen my betta do that, but he does eat Algae wafers!

Hmm. Maybe that's why my ammonia alert keeps ending up on the bottom of the tank lately...
 
Your betta eats algae wafers? Wow, that's interesting! The Marineland Bio-Blend Betta food that I give my bettas has spirulina in it, so I wasn't worried that it would hurt him. I was just a little surprised to see him do that. He's still eating it. He goes over to the suction cup a few times a day and takes a little nibble. If he keeps the suction cups clean like this, I may never have to wipe them off again!
