I have my betta in a 5 gal Chi and he seems very happy. I did purchase the lid from here and it's a good price; I've purchased from this store many times and recommend them highly. The water trickles down over the top but I don't hear it at all unless I'm right next to it. The water does evaporate fairly quickly so I have to add some in every day or so but it isn't a huge bother.
