Bio chem zorb?

Does bio chem zorb have to go in filter?

Ideally yes after the mechanical filtration but I have hung similar products just under the outflow of the filter in tank.

Thank you for the reply, im thinking of doing this as bag size i got doesnt quite fit into filter. Alternatively i was thinking of buying smaller filtration bags from local fish store and dividing it up into two.
