bio media

I have the aqueon model 3 sump pictured below and am doing a refugium set up. If I was going to place some bio media in there like ceramic rings, etc. would I place it after the second chamber in the baffle before the sponge or somewhere else? I've been intending to get some media like ceramic rings but am a little clueless as to where to place them within my sumps setup because I'm not doing the wet/dry. Thanks for any help.

I'm not really sure where the.best spot would be when running it with a refugium. Bio balls or ceramic rings needs to be in contact with air. The space above the sponge looks to small imo. Maybe where the socks are would work
