I have a tank that has had a constant black algae problem. It only contains cheap plastic plants, granite gravel & was home until a week or so ago to an 18" Clown Knife who has since been rehomed as I have no room for a 200g tank when he reaches full size[emoji20]

I am in the process of moving all my tanks & fish to one room and getting rid of all the smaller tanks. I will be keeping this tank but I would like to try and get rid of this **** black crap before I move the rehomed Oscar in. I've thrown out all the plants & wil replace all filter media. l also plan to soak all equipment in either bleach or peroxide - which ever is better or less likely to cause issues. Should I do the gravel too? I am assuming this also means I am going to have to cycle the tank again before I move Grumpy in. Any & all advice is welcome

Algae "1 - 2 Punch" (google it)
Less light, way less light
Blackout treatment
More + bigger water changes
More filter cleanings
More gravel cleans
MANUAL REMOVAL (don't skimp on the elbow grease)

This should give you the edge on most algae.
