black sand

whats the best black sand for me? I will be growing plants but nothing hi light.
Would it be best to get a plant food type sand or just normal black sand?

if i get eco complete but i dont have a heavily planted tank will this cause problems with algae

It shouldn't cause a problem in your tank, maybe cause a problem in your billfold though. Get what looks best to you. Also, consider the fish you are keeping. Soft bellied fish, like cories, should not be in with sharp gravels (EcoComplete is fine for them). I prefer the look of sand over gravel.

You don't need special plant substrate to grow plants btw.

Personal opinion. I wouldn't waste money on it myself. If I want nutrient rich substrate I use dirt.
