Bleached out snail
In the process of moving fish around I checked out Danger Snail, my mystery snail. He's not lookin so great recently. His normally yellow shell looks bleached out and pitted. Being a bit worried about him I picked him up to make sure he was still kicking. His door flap is super thin and it's flexible. It used to be nearly as hard as his shell.
Normal water params are in good shape, 0 ammonia/nitrite, 5 nitrate, 7.4 [acronym:a517743830="power head or Measure of the concentration of hydrogen ions, depending on context"]ph[/acronym:a517743830]. I haven't checked the [acronym:a517743830="General Hardness"]gh[/acronym:a517743830]/[acronym:a517743830="Carbonate Hardness"]kh[/acronym:a517743830] recently but it's usually on the higher side of average. So am I missing some nutrients? Has he come down with something? Or is it just time to get out some turtle wax? |
