which one is the best substrate for a blue crayfish tank?
are they messy? they like to play with the gravel?
thanks!

All crayfish are messy eaters. I'd go with sand and leave a few pieces of gravel for them to move around. Crayfish are very smart creatures and will explore their surroundings. Put a good lid on the tank, because crayfish will climb out and wander quite far.

Did you know that you can take an ordinary crayfish and put it in a tank with blue glass substrate, like marbles or decorative stones, and it will turn blue when it molts? Likewise, if you put an ordinary crayfish on red glass subtrate it will turn red. Just an interesting unknown fact. :) Bill

My regulet Crayfish kinda did that on black stbstrate. The top of the back was solid black and the sides were blue.
