I have had my tank running for several weeks now at what point do I need to put a bottom feeding fish in to help keep my tank clean it's a twenty gallon tank with now five glo fish dsnios

Look into a school of cories,5 is a good minimum.
There are many varieties ,but get all the same.
They are very social creatures and will enjoy each others company while scavenging the bottom of your tank.

Those are a neat looking fish and I like that they get along with others will my under gravel filter have an effect on the way a bottom feeding fish is fed?

The UG should not be a problem for bottom fish in particular.
Just make sure to keep up an vacuuming to keep detritus from clogging up the gravel.
Do you have any other filter on tank?

I have a back filter that's good a 40 gallon on my twenty it has a charcoal filter and a rubber style filter
