Breeding Platties

My boyfriend and i bought 5 red coral platties for our community tank about 3 months ago.
We have three females and two makes.
We were hoping to have had some fry by now but nothing
any tips??
Do they get dark gravid spots when pregnant or do you just look for them swelling

They do get pregnant with a gravid spot showing. Chances are that if you have a community tank none of the fry will survive.

For more info on your fish, google "platy breeding"--you will get more info than you will know what to do with!! Once you know the signs, you will be able to isolate the mother and raise the fry.

I had five fry survive in my 12 gallon Eclipse without removing the female. Mine didn't breed for 4 or 5 months after I got them, so be patient. With platies, its not IF but WHEN.
