Yes, in some cases, plecos can get aggressive. Keep you fingers crossed!
Yes they can coexist in a 4 foot 55 gallon you should be fine I wouldnt try it in anything smaller. I tried 2 bristlenoses in a 37 gallon it didn't go well with 2 males 1 killed the other one in a territory battle.
