BristleNose Plecostomous

How Big does a BristleNose PLeco get my lfs said they get 4ft over tiem but everybody on here has "dwarf bristlenose plecos" i want a "dwarf bristlenose pleco that stays small. ANy info on them or their exact size would be appreciatted greatly

I'm not sure there is a difference in bristlenoses other than color strains. As far as I know and what I've read on planetcatfish, they all get 4-5 inches long. I think he probably meant 4 inches.

Wow...a 4 ft fish! That's 48". Obviously your LFS has a problem with weights and measures (not to mention the other problems you've posted).

The biggest i've seen are around 4 - 6 inches. They are a lot more active than most Pleco's and I would suggest at least a 29 gallon tank.

The 3 inch long bristlenose I recently purchased is supposed to grow to 6 - 8 inches. The dwarf albino one I have only gets to be 4-5 inches.

I've heard of four foot long red tail catfish, but never bristlenoses. You could check with the profiles on planetcatfish.com .

I've seen a pretty large common pleco, which can get up to 4 feet, but not the bristlenose pleco.

Most all species in the Ancistrus genus (aka Bristlenosed Plecos) don't get bigger than 6 inches. Most common plecos (mainly Hypostomus) don't get bigger than 18-24 inches max. Your LFS guy has his information ass backwards.

Starlight Ancistrus
Orange Temmincki Ancistrus
Albino Temmincki Ancistrus
Medusa Head Ancistrus (Not a true ancistrus, doesn't have specialized teeth for algae so it is an omnivore.)
