Bulb question
Hello,
I see around here the reccomended light kelvin rating is 6700 or so, but I"m wondering how big a difference this makes, as I have some [acronym:fd7cd76755="Compact Flourescent"]CF[/acronym:fd7cd76755] tues laying around I'd like to use but they have a kelvin rating of only 4100... how much of a difference does this make? [acronym:fd7cd76755="Thanks in Advance"]TIA[/acronym:fd7cd76755]

They should work as I've used a 2700k HPS bulb to grow aquatics before most people just find lower [acronym:d75ee7232b="Kelvin or Potassium, depending on context"]k[/acronym:d75ee7232b] numbers to be unpleasingly yellow.

All Kelvin is, is a measurement of the color of the output on a special black background. Kelvin is not very indicative of the spectral output.
Pretty much anything from 3000k to 10,000K has adequate red and blue spectral peaks for plant growth. 4100k is going to be very yellow, very much like an incandescent bulb. However, neon tetra look great under this lighting.

Yes, I have a 4000k light on a small 10 gallon. I got the light at lows, and my plants look just fine. I think they make the 5 little gold barbs I have in there look kinda nice. And the amazon sword is nice and healthy looking.
