I have a 30 gal tank that I am thinking of taking out of storage and setting up but it has a calcium buidup on the glass that a scrubby pad and water just will not do the job. Any ideas how I can take that stuff off the tank? Also one more question on live plants . Can you plant any species in sand or do they have to be planted in dirt or gravel. thank you for any feed back

Try soaking the tank in vinegar water then use good ole elbow grease and a razor blade for the hard stuff.

You can use any substrate, sand, small grained gravel, or any commercial aquatic plant substrate.
