Can anyone give me information on Red Whiptail Lizard Catfish?

Ok there is one at the store near my home for $35.00 and I want to know if they are worth getting. I love odd looking fish and I actually DON'T have any of them.

I want him really bad, but I know NOTHING about them. The store says "They swim, eat, and look like plecos, but they're not plecos." I know helpful right? Can anyone tell me how long they get, what they eat, and if he/she would do well in a community tank with other larger fish? Thanks

I am one of those people that actually researches now... after my dibocle with Yummy (my red tail catfish... that is now in a 3000 gal tank... DANG... LoL)

I don't even know if he's a RED WHIPTAIL... I know that he's a whiptail because he's got the long thingy on the end of his tail. I can't even remember how to spell what they called him at the store. He's got barbels on his face though. So maybe a Bristle Nose Whiptail Lizard Catfish? HELP

You may want to go to PlanetCatfish • the online home of aquarium catfishes and check it out. They have a lot of people of there that forum that is really good at identifying L numbers of catfish and plecos.

Again... he's that fish in a different color. He's not a red whiptail... he's just a whiptail
