can anyone tell me about serpae tetras?

They can be fin nippers but they're not particularly mean or anything. Pretty active compared to most tetras too.

Normally when an otherwise peaceful schooling fish is becoming aggressive, the issue is in the numbers. Six is generally the recommended minimum for a school.

I would agree with that. I wasn't saying they ARE mean, just that every now and then there will be a slightly aggressive group of them. I would expect them to get along in most community tanks.

I have a pretty rough group of them too. Constantly moving but I wish I had a 20 Gal. long tank that they could have for themselves. I have 6 and they are a trip.

mine are in a 29.. with some danios,lemons and bloodfins and neon tetras..
