Hi

My 18gallon tank has:
7 platys
2 otos
2 africain dwarf frogs
8-10 ghost shrimp

Am I getting too overstocked ?

I (meaning my daughter) really want to add one more, something a little different any advice?

Thanks

Platys reproduce at a rapid rate - not quite as prolific as guppies, but close - so that might soon affect your stocking. My daughter started with 4 platys in a 20g and there are now several generation of fish in her tank. She thought she'd purchased all males, but is now better at determining the gender of her fish!

Platys are livebearers so they are a little heavier on the bioload. I would say you are close to stocked if not there already. What are the dimensions of this tank? Is it tall or long?

I'd put in a dwarf or pearl gourami :)

I don't think a pearl gourami would fit in that tank. I would say the tank is at it's limit, you may be able to add a dwarf gourami though.

Thanks for the input, for now I think the aquarium will stay as is, we really don't want the issues with overstocking.
