Can I take an older(but running filter) on to my new tank ?

Basically, I have a 55 gallon tank with a suitable filter.
My 29 gallon tank has been running for 2 years and I recently took out the fish to put into my 55 gallon. the filter has been running the whole time as well. It would be nice to get some extra filtration so I was wondering if I could add my 29 gallon filter into my 55 gallon tank to produce extra filtration ? Thanks !!

Of course you can.

That would be the best way to do it if you don't need the filter on the other tank. That way you have a cycled filter on your new tank while the other filter cycles which takes a couple months
