caves - Aquarium Advice

well now my chiclids in my 20 are hiding behind a small decoration i bought. well to give them a better hiding place ima switch out the head and put in a terikotta pot. is there anything special i need to do to it to sterilize it or can i just clean it and put it in the tank on its side with some substrate in it, is this a good idea?

As long as it is true Terracotta (meaning, not just a brown ceramic pot, something made of limestone, or anything else besides terracotta) just rinse it off well and put it in. It's safe for aquariums, as is, as long as it's clean.

ya but then i dont see them at all really and the way i did where i turned it on its side i like better

It's all a matter of preference. Only reason I sent the link along is because I thought it was cool. You can put it anyway you want it. One of the beauties of aquascaping.
