Hi.

Here is a really good tip for optimum changing of tropical fish water.
  1. Pour water conditioner into kettle
  2. Add tap water to maximum fill level
  3. Next step is trial and error. Turn the kettle on and experiment with how long it takes to heat the water to the required temperature of your tank
I found that it takes my kettle when filled full, 45 seconds to heat my water to 26'C

I then add this water straight to my tank to top up evaporation that occurs as I have an open top tank.

An even better way of doing the above is to use a Brita Filter Kettle. This will filter the water before boiling which gives you even better quality water. However I find this not really cost effective on a Tropical tank and best employed on a SW setup.

Give the above a go.... works wonders!

Wow, that sounds complicated. I guess it'd be needed without a water heater though. I just do the hose / sink hot water adjustment as well. For SW, a heater works wonders since it needs time to mix anyways.
