Clay Molding for Aquarium Decorations

My brother wants to make some clay structures for his 10 gallon, same as what he saw in a book. The book recommends non-toxic polymer clay around chicken wire, which is then baked. He wants me to ask you if this will be safe.

I'm gonna lean toward saying yes, it would be safe ... but without knowing the brand, I can't be sure

one thing he could do is call the manufacturer and ask if the material is safe for food contact once it's cured... or ask if there is an MSDS (materials safety data sheet) on the clay, then you could see what Uncle Sam has to say about it's safety.

sounds like a cool project - hope it turns out well!

Hmm, at first I thought this was another crazy post, but man that sounds really cool! Chicken wire and clay, sounds like a plan to me. I would also call the company and make sure it is ok although most [acronym:543f3570a6="Freshwater"]FW[/acronym:543f3570a6] fish seem to be pretty hardy and all. Please post pictures if you ever do it!
