cleaning driftwood???

Hello. I have two large pieces of driftwood in my 75 gal tank housing an Oscar and a Jack Dempsey. Both pieces of wood have this wierd stuff that kind of grew on it...it's not a plant or algae or anything...I just want to know what I can do to get it off!!! Can I pressure wash it??? I'm going to take it out today and run HOT water on it and try to scrub it off...it makes the wood look real nasty. TIA

I believe psipro wanted to know what the growth looked like . Seriously, what did this growth resemble? Was it dark in patches?

Is it almost white in color? More clear? If so, it will go away on its own. I had the same thing and after a few weeks it went away all of a sudden. Just woke up one morning and it was gone.

If it's white fungus then it will go away on it's own and no amount of scrubbing or boiling will do any good. Once it uses up whatever food source it's found in the wood it will stop coming back.
