cleaning sponge filter

How so you get a sponge filter out of the tank to clean it without dripping a ton of filthy sludge off it?

Siphon tube to catch any nastys that escape, amd quickly remove it.
You could also use a bag and scoop it like you would dog poop on a walk. Again the siphon to clean up

Scooping it up in a pitcher would probably be easiest. I usually pick up a bunch at the dollar store that will hang on the side of the tank.

Slip a food bag over it and lift out the bag with the sponge inside.
