My water has recently become very cloudy. It is a well established tank and the water parameters are fine, so I don't belive it is a bacterial bloom (at least in regards to cycling). I added a divider recently and thought that because the water movement has been lessened it has caused some form of algae to grow. I'm just guessing though...any thoughts on this?

Hi Spence. How large a tank? What kind of fish and how many? What are you filtering with? This will help us help you.

It's a divided 10 gal. It has the Penguin 125 for a filter. There are 4 one inch Mollies and a Jewel Cichlid which is about 2 inches. I keep the Mollies just to keep the tank cycled for an emergency such as this.

It's a good bet that the divider is some of the cause. Water needs to circulate freely in a healthy aquarium. Clean your filter, and replace all carbon at least monthly. Start doing daily 25% water changes.

I think it best that you give the mollies another home and lose the divider.
