whats the best month to start a outdoor pond? also, could common goldfish live in outdoor ponds too?

Now is a good time, if the ground is soft enough to dig it.

Any long-bodied goldfish should be fine in a pond.

As long as the temperature in the pond is at or above 55degrees it's fine to introduce any goldfish outdoors.
We have a small-ish outdoor pond with fish in it, so if you have any questions about how we did feel free to ask. :>

It's important not to shock the goldfish with the water temperature. While they do winter over in ponds that are deep enough and in which one is able to keep a hole and water action going in the ice, I would wait to introduce fish until the water temperature is more similar to where ever the fish are coming from. In the southern tier of NYS that's rarely before May.
