Do you always put this much salt in or was it just a one time thing??
im just curious, because i always attributed the salt to the death of my clown loaches.

Pretty much always. I read this helps prevent ich, and none of the fish mind. The loach is in fact thriving.

Im glad your loach is thriving, who knows, mine could've had something else wrong with them, but im still cautious with the salt. Raising temp to 86 also kills ich and i like to do this now when adding new fish or if i use a [acronym:d70d6b61c8="quarantine or quart depending on context"]QT[/acronym:d70d6b61c8] tank, although it has to be done slowly and kept up for about 2 weeks. But since ive done this, no Ich outbreaks

I should definatly set up a quarantine tank. I'm too poor to replace any fish. The problem is I have no place to put one.

get a container that is longer then it is high, and float it inside your tank.
aerate it and presto, instant [acronym:59083bf159="quarantine or quart depending on context"]Qt[/acronym:59083bf159] that heats itself off the main tank.
bump up your temp in the main, which helps anywayand add your treatment to the [acronym:59083bf159="quarantine or quart depending on context"]qt[/acronym:59083bf159] container, and do your water changes for the container out of the main, after you've done the main water change.

wow. I think i just made that sound more confusing then it actually is.
Good luck!!

I have cory catfish and neon tetras and I haven't had a problem yet with salt being in the water, then again I don't put all that much in ._.
