congo tetra color variants

My [acronym:d3a0e2b041="Local Fish Store"]lfs[/acronym:d3a0e2b041] owner says there are different color variants of congo tetras. He often has good info but this time I'm skeptical. Is this so? Are there color variants of the congo tetra other than the standard fish I've seen posted everywhere on the web?

Congo Tetras (Phenacogrammus interruptus) are quite variable in coloration because their colors derive primarily from the reflectivity of their scales. I have seen some that have more intense permanent coloration than others but nothing that I would call a 'color variant'. There are, however, other African tetras that go under the name of 'Congo Tetra'. One good example is the 'Yellow-tailed Congo Tetra - Alestopetersius caudalis. It looks similar in body style to P. interruptus but the colors are quite different.

okay

Thanks. I checked it out using Google. It looks a lot like the congo, maybe smaller?
