What are some of the coolest/prettiest looking freshwater tropical fish out there?

I wanna stock my 20 gallon tank with some cool fish so any sughestions on what fish and how much of each is appreciated.

Tough question.

I like different types for different reasons: body shape, body size/length, colors, attitude.

It all depends on what I'm going for when I set up a tank.

Let's see, neons are always a favorite.

There's different types of rainbows, I'm partial to the threadfins and furcatas.

Peacock gudgeons

Badis badis (aka scarlet dario or dario dario)

various loaches (partial to kuhlis and clowns for color reasons)

cichlids, darn near most are brightly colored



What size tank and what look are you going with, natural vs unnatural?

I have a 20 gallon tanksetup and cycled. I was looking at nore natural.

Peacock gudgeons would work well in there. I'm planning on getting some for our 29g once I'm done using it for QT.

I love Marbled Hatchet fish. Just keep a good lid on.

I'm partial to catfish myself haha.
But I love native species, if only I had the space for them :T
I'd love to get some peacock gudgeons or boesemani rainbows. So pretty, so expensive. (I'm still going to get some, just need a job first)
I also love gouramis and bettas.
And eels.

I'm a sucker for all oddballs... and all fish to be honest.

For your tank I'm a +1 for peacock gudgeons, and maybe some variety of dwarf gourami or cichlid or something similar

Glowlight tetras are natural, but bright at the same time. They don't take up too much space either.

do you know about any fish with like colorful bodies and tails

Maybe rummy nosed tetras? They have red noses and striped tails. There are neon tetras and gold neon tetras, and cardinal tetras.
A bolivian ram may work. They are very natural and colorful at the same time.
