Have a friend that lives in barbados. She was thinking of bringing me back some coral (I'm assumign dead and I've told her if she was to make sure it was dead) to put in my tank.

Would thi scause any problems in a freshwater planted tank that I should be aware of?

I would think it would cause lots of problems. you could always put it in a bucket of tank water and then let it sit for a day or two and thentest the water to see.

Calcerous coral skeletons will cause pH to rise, as well as GH and KH. This could prove detrimental to many community fish. A better idea might be to arrange your coral skeletons outside the tank as decor.:)
