Yes. I read about it a lot, saw some stories that worried me, but overall thought it sounded okay. Now I have my tank that way, and look at their barbels every day (ha ha). They're doing great!

I have sand in my tank. Like CoryFan, I read some stories advocating sand instead of gravel for cory cats. Most people have gravel without a problem. I like the look of sand better, it's easier to clean, and my cory cats really enjoy it. If you want gravel, I'm sure it'll be fine.
 
Ok awesome! I don't like sand because it gets kicked up and plus my plants wouldn't like sand much! I've been scouring the web and I think the consensus is that it's a Cory-safe substrate!!
