crazy nitrate spike??
I have a 55g tank:
3 dwarf puffers 3 neon tetras 2 bk tetras 2 common plecos 2 albino baby plecos 1 rubberlipped pleco 1 glowlight tetra 2 baby cories 3 MTS (all are pretty small) well over the past few days I have had 3 fish die (2 neons and 2 bk tetras) water parameters were good, no ammonia. no nitrites, very low nitrates well this morning I notice my albino pleco upside down, i scooped him up and put him in some fresh water put he sadly passed anyway. well I grabbed my tests and did the nirtrate 1st (no idea why I did that 1st) well it was crazy high, I did a 75% water change but why do you think the nitrate spiked so high all of a sudden, the past few days have been fine(I test everyday) thanks!

No other water parameters were off? How long has this tank been established? When was the last PWC with gravel vac? What was the nitrate reading? What is the nitrate reading now?
