So I'm curious what everyone's thoughts on this are. I've been looking locally for some GBR's and had no luck finding any in the surrounding area. I'm headed back home to western washington for a few days and know that some of the LFS's there carry GBRs.

So my question is, would it be a bad idea to pick them up at a shop and head back to eastern washington? the trip is around 5 hours long.

Based off how long the fish sits in travel when we order online a 5 hours trip shouldn't be too bad right? or am I crazy?

The trip will stress your fish. Just add some plants with the fish during the drive back to the east side. Quarantine it when you reach your destination.

What kind of fish is a GBR?

German Blue Ram.

5 hours isn't long at all if the fish is bagged with oxygen (and even if it isn't). I have fish bagged and boxed for 2-4 days at a time when I'm shipping them. Just bring along a cooler to put the bag in and you should be fine.
