crushed coral substrate

ive been having a problem with my crushed coral substrate.. the tanks been set up since about early to mid janurary, i put the gravel in there, not washing it out very well.( later on finding out that was a bad idea.) im still getting the cloudyness and the mess of it when i do gravel cleanings. will this ever go away? cause if not, im switching to sand.

Don't have any experience with crushed coral, but sand can be a pretty big headache as well. Sand can cloud the water and also get into the filter and destroy the impeller
