I have two tanks. a 29gallon and a 36 gallon. How come the water in my 36 gallon evaporates soooo much quicker then the 29? I find myself topping off the water more often. I feel like the water level in the 29 never goes down.
Just curious?

Thanks all! :D

Water Evaporation

Good morning Cop...

My uneducated answer would be your larger tank has a greater surface area exposed to the air, so you'll have more evaporation.

I have large tanks, but never top them off. I change a minimum of half the water in my tanks every week and I fill them close to the top. I'm sure there's some evaporation that takes place, but not enough to drop the water that you'd notice it before the next large water change.

Thats what I figured too. Thereis more exposed area, but SLIGHTLY more then the other day. Its just weird I dunno lol. Even when we do water changes it always seems to be lower then what I fill it to
