People told me I don't have to buy the bacteria for cycling. However if I just do regular water testing, changes, and control toxin level, how do I know if my tank is cycling appropriately? Where do these good bacteria come from since I didn't buy them? Thanks

They're all around us, in the air, for free :) They'll make their way into the tank. A good liquid test kit will let you know of what's going on in the tank.
