Cycling = patience?

12 hours ago I did a 95% pwc in my 5 gallon. Dosed ammo to 4 ppm. Tested now. 12 hours later. Ammo -0. TrItes-5+. TrAtes-80.

I redosed ammo to 4ppm and will test again tonight.

Do I need to do a pwc or can I wait till after testing?

Hmm well no u should just wait till after testing? U should done a water change before u redosed. I'm pretty sure ur nitrite and nitrate readings will be off the charts! But good new is that u are nearly there!

Ok. Did a 95% pwc. Took readings. After the change. Ammo-0. Nitrites-.25.

Dosed ammo to ~3.

But what I'm surprised at is I added ammo to 4-5 ppm. And 4 hours later it was down to 1!!

That's good!!! How long have you been cycling for ?

Only 9 days. I got a few decorations from an established tank and every couple days I dunk and swish the filter on my ten gallon in it. Gets cloudy then my filter cleans it up in maybe 30 mins.
