Removing chlorine is definitely needed. I like chemicals that removes chloramine as well since I don't trust my utility. My water tank at my house is over 10 years old, so I suspect I get a fair share of copper in my water as well, so I like metal remover in my chemical. Just about any water conditioner does this on the market.
As others have mentioned before, I don't like ammonia remover/converter - there should be enough bacteria to break these down naturally... Once cycled, I have never seen any level of ammnia in any of my tanks...
