Dead Female Blue Gourami and not a clue why she died

I had a female blue gourami, had her for about 4 months. She seemed fine, except her sides seemed to be getting larger (looked like she swallowed a rock). Tuesday she was fine, no noticeable issues, nothing unusual about her and Tuesday night she was dead. Any ideas what the problem could have been?

I was just looking at that. It could have been. Her scales weren't standing on end, but it still could have been. Poor thing. She was a beautiful fish. The male was steady chasing her. I guess he thought she was beautiful too.

Sorry about the loss, don't let this discourage you. It was a mistake and we learn from that and move on. Hopefully you can diagnose it and prevent this from happening in the future.

Nah I'm not discouraged. I've lost many fish since starting. I don't get too attached to them because I know that things happen.
