Diatoms
OK So about a week ago I noticed that diatoms were starting to grow in my tank. I didn't really care much because I knew the otto and shrimp will take care of it. Sadly one my cleanup crew wont take care of the ammount yet. It suddenly bloomed into covering almost all of the plants, three pannels in my hex 15gal tall, and almost the entire powerhead.
Some questions: 1) I'm planning on adding [acronym:a77fb917c3="Malaysian Trumpet Snails or Multiple Tank Syndrome, depending on context"]MTS[/acronym:a77fb917c3] approx 10, think they will be able to take care of the alge? 2) What do you think caused the bloom? My tank just finished cycling and I hear its not uncommon for diatoms to grow. 3) If the [acronym:a77fb917c3="Malaysian Trumpet Snails or Multiple Tank Syndrome, depending on context"]MTS[/acronym:a77fb917c3] dont take care of the problem, any other sugeestions? |

new tanks get diatoms.. its common..
I would clean the leaves of the plants off so they can get some light and start consuming the nutrient that the diatoms are currently.. I dont think [acronym:64f8045619="Malaysian Trumpet Snails or Multiple Tank Syndrome, depending on context"]MTS[/acronym:64f8045619] will help.. nertie(sp?) snails maybe.. |
