Should I use API Phos-Zorb, Seachem PhosGuard, or otocinclus' to control diatoms? I know I can add live plants to eat up the extra nutrients that help contribute to diatoms, but I'm not into live plants and don't want the added responsibility of them. Nerite snails are another option, but they lay infertile eggs and I don't want them all over my tank as that will look very unsightly and ugly. So, which would be better, API Phos-Zorb, Seachem PhosGuard, or otocinclus'?

I use phosguard and did have a diamond sand sifter that worked well with a kole Tang but the diamond died from an ich outbreak. All 3 together worked really well. If you have a sump or refugium chaeto or another algae in there can help too and it's not really an extra responsibility other than water flow and a light
