Different types of filter

Iv seen some things online about Fluidized bed filters, and apparently they are extremely efficient, low maintainable and you can build them yourself, so as cheap and powerful as you need, just wondering if anyone has tried these filters and if they are as good as they say.

I have never run one, but certainly there is some sound reasoning behind why some prefer to run them... especially in a planted tank.

Iv decided to build my own variation of the fbd to suit my tank needs, as I have a 1000litre planted tank being developed a standard canister filter wouldn't be sufficient. Also from the research iv done its going to cost less than £100(about 200 dollars)! Can't beat that value.
