Dither dish for tank?

Hi. I currently have a ebjd in my 29g tank on his own. I believe he had an eye problem as I have had to teach him to take sinking pellets in a certain spot in the tank. He does try to get other food but when he strikes for it he misses! I was wondering if it would be possible to put in some dither fish to help him to take flake from the surface. And if so, what fish would be compatible?

First things first, you're bjs is going to outgrow your tank eventually. I wouldn't put anything with him until he/her got a bigger tank. How big is he now?

Forgot to add, getting a 55 or a 75 soon. He's only 1.5". I've had him about 7 weeks in which time he's grown about 1/2 an inch. I know it's early days yet but I'm presuming he'll be ok.
